“The United Nations (UN) has declared 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. The resolution recognizes the importance of international tourism and particularly of the designation of an international year of sustainable tourism for development in fostering better understanding among peoples everywhere, leading to a greater awareness of the rich heritage of various civilizations, and bringing about a better appreciation of the inherent values of different cultures, thereby contributing to the strengthening of peace in the world. The International Year (IYST 2017) aims to raise awareness on the contribution of sustainable tourism to development among decision-makers and the public, while mobilizing all stakeholders to work together in making tourism a catalyst for positive change.” Plataran L’Harmonie has been awarded by Green Destination Organization in late 2016 as one of the Top 100 Sustainable Destinations in the World. Plataran L’Harmonie at West Bali National Park Becomes the New World Destination West Bali National Park is becoming a new world destination (New World Wonder Destination), being the primary habitat of the Bali Starling bird or Jalak Bali (Leucopsar Rothschildi). Bali Starling is an exotic, rare, endangered and protected bird, of which their population is estimated to only be a few in the world, hence they are considered as a World Heritage. Bali Starling only lives and is only found in the forest at the West Bali National Park. These birds are the only Bali endemic species and in 1991 was named the faunal emblem of Bali Province. The existence of this endemic bird is protected by law. Apart from being a habitat of the Bali Starling, the West Bali National Park is also home to a variety of flora such as mangrove forests, as well as a variety of fauna such as deer, monkeys, and pheasants. Indonesia is Awarded with Another World Recognition – Plataran L’Harmonie as one of the Top 100 Green Destinations in the World

Indonesia once again marked its presence in the field of world-class tourism, this time through Plataran L’Harmonie in West Bali National Park, with the recent recognition as one of the Top 100 World Green Destinations from the Green Destination Organization. Plataran L’Harmonie encompasses the ecotourism forest area of West Bali National Park, covering an area of 382 hectares with a coastline of more than 7 km facing Menjangan Island, an island wellknown as a divers’ paradise for its exotic beauty of the underwater world. This area has been developed for 18 years as an eco-tourism destination in Bali, of which for the past two years, the developments were done by Plataran. The area of Plataran L’Harmonie is the primary habitat of the Jalak Bali or Bali Starling (Leucopsar Rothschildi), an endangered and protected rare exotic bird. The population of this species is estimated to be very few in the world, therefore making this particular bird a World Heritage.
